　　Recently, Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office（SIPO） of P.R. China, led a delegation to attend the 57th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization（WIPO）。 During the top global IP gathering, Shen also hosted the 9th BRICS Heads Meeting of Intellectual Property Offices, met his counterparts from other countries and regions, and signed a number of cooperative agreements. Prior to the Assemblies, Shen also visited the Finnish Patent and Registration Office（PRH） and the European Union Intellectual Property Office（EUIPO）。 This special edition is to offer a comprehensive review of the Commissioner’s trip and summarize the related achievements to the readers.

 

 

　　Shen Changyu led a delegation to attend the 57th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization（WIPO）。

 

 

　　Shen Changyu hosted the 9th BRICS Heads Meeting of Intellectual Property Offices.

 

 

　　Shen Changyu visited the Finnish Patent and Registration Office（PRH）。 The two offices signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the State Intellectual Property Office of the People's Republic of China and the Finnish Patent and Registration Office.

 

 

　　Shen Changyu met with Maximiliano Santa Cruz, President of the National Institute of Industrial Property（INAPI） of Chile. Both parties agreed to keep communication on the regular basis, further deepen the cooperation between the two offices and promote the development of intellectual property systems of both countries.

 

 

　　Shen Changyu met with Johanne Bélisle, Commissioner of Canadian Intellectual Property Office（CIPO）， and applauded new fruits reaped through joint efforts in the past months.

 

 

　　Shen Changyu met with Sandris Laganovskis, Director of Patent Office of the Republic of Latvia（LRPV）。 The two offices signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the State Intellectual Property Office of the People's Republic of China and the Patent Office of the Republic of Latvia.

 

 

　　Shen Changyu met with Benoît Battistelli, President of the European Patent Office（EPO）， agreeing to upgrade the relations of the two offices from "Strategic Partnership" to "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership".

 

 

　　Shen Changyu visited the European Union Intellectual Property Office（EUIPO）。 The two offices signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Bilateral Cooperation between the State Intellectual Property Office of the People's Republic of China and the EU Intellectual Property Office.

 

 

　　Shen Changyu met with Tim Moss, the new Chief Exeutive and Comptroller General of UK Intellectual Property Office（UKIPO）， and invited Moss to visit China in November to sign 2018 annual work plan between the two offices.

 

 

　　Shen Changyu met with Fernando dos Santos, Director General of the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization（ARIPO）。 Both parties signed the Joint Statement between the State Intellectual Property Office of the People's Republic of China and the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization to Cooperate in the field of Patent Prosecution Highway.

 

 

 

　　Shen Changyu met with Denis Loukou BOHOUSSOU, newly-elected Director General of the African Intellectual Property Organization（OAPI）， and expressed SIPO's willingness to strengthen the cooperation with OAPI in the areas of personnel training, patent examination, patent documentation and IT exchange, and the protection of genetic resources, traditional knowledge and folklore.
