China on Wednesday inaugurated a 658-km high speed railway line cutting through a mountain range and connecting the terracotta warriors' city of Xi'an in the northwest to Chengdu city in the southwest, the travelling time between Xi'an and Chengdu cut from 11 hours to less than four hours. Qinling mountains are known for ever-changing landscape and rough terrains. Xi'an-Chengdu railway is an embodiment of China's innovation strength and opens a new chapter for the development of the western regions.
