CNIPA Commissioner Shen Changyu had a video conference with the European Union Intellectual Property Office （EUIPO） Executive Director Christian Archambeau On May 19. The two sides shared on the latest development of their work, bilateral cooperation and commented on the launching of Chinese trademark data on EUIPO's trademark search platform TMview.
"As the two of the largest economies in the world, China and the EU have always maintained close exchanges and cooperation," Shen said. "Even during the pandemic, our two offices still interact frequently. Last year, CNIPA and EUIPO signed the China-EU Trademark Information Exchange Agreement. With the joint efforts of both parties, the agreement was successfully implemented. Today, China's trademark data will be officially launched on TMview. At the same time, the EU trademark search system developed by CNIPA has also been formally put into use. The results of our collaboration will benefit Chinese and European IP users, and will also lay a solid foundation for more profound and pragmatic cooperation between us."
Christian Archambeau said that the cooperation on the exchange of trademark data between the two offices is a long-term project. The EU trademark search system was put into operation in China, and the Chinese trademark data was officially launched on TMview, which will greatly facilitate trademark search for IP users in two places. It is hoped that the two parties will continue to deepen cooperation in the field of IP and benefit more IP users from China and Europe.
The two sides also exchanged views on TM5 （five largest trademark offices in the world）， ID5 （five largest industrial design offices）， China-EU IP Key project and negotiation progress of the MOU between the two offices. （by Xiong Huaping）
