Chinese EV battery maker CATL sues smaller rival over alleged IP violation

  China's top electric vehicle (EV) battery maker CATL said it had sued China Lithium Battery Technology Co., Ltd. (CALB) for alleged intellectual property violations and the lawsuit related to batteries made by CALB using its new technologies that have been installed on tens of thousands of vehicles. CALB said in a statement that it focused on independent research and technology advancement.   As of date, the electrification trend of automobiles has become the global consensus. Power batteries as the core components of EVs turn to the focus of future competition among EV companies. Only if Chinese power battery companies strengthen independent research and carry out patent portfolio planning could they step further in the increasingly fierce industry competition.
